Mike, as requested, here's the report. Thank you again for your great efforts and the commaradre of our fishing team; but how do you do an attachment here on this website?

Redline, thank you again for giving up your spot on the Slingshot Express. While the day was tough, I enjoyed getting out with some great guys AND getting some tugs on my line!

Here's the report:

Yesterday, word is or was: that it was a beautiful day in the 80’s clear water with many reds sighted but said reds were extremely picky about lure presentation. Word apparently got out that LEO's were out in force to put said bait perpetrators in the ice box. Inside informants being sought.

Today, Saturday, was to be same with gentle east winds. I thought for sure this would be a Holy Saturday sunrise service that I would not soon forget with tight lines and full limits; however, instead we had overcast skies and winds that started at 15mph then cranked to 25mph+, or so it seemed. With a 180 degree change in plans from day prior, Slingshot’s pontoon kayak mothership lumbered into a strong wind up the ICW toward Galveston from Freeport to a protected marsh that was a known producer.

I caught a 22” red on a redfish skitterwalker top water along a shore that I thought was having bait pushed up against it. Slingshot posted a nice 22” red also as he went even deeper into the marsh labyrinth. Even though it was my first outing for the 2009 season, my potlicking skills quickly came back; however, after hooking another nice red bigger than the first and doing the turn the torpedo in a circle routine and said torpedo was tiring . . . the line went limp. As I pulled the end of the line up for inspection, I was relieved that there was not the curly pig tail evidence of knot failure. As the shredded 20 lb fluorocarbon was being inspected, I realized that my $6 Skitterwalker had just been hijacked by one PO’d 24” red. None-the-less I was happy that the proper presentation of that top water along the wind pushed cafeteria line of flow worked.

As Slingshot said, it was all about……….
. . .

. . .

. . .

the pause . . . . . . . . . . . (followed by a little twitch).

If I had just applied that technique a little more religiously, I think I could have gotten the other two redfish swirl look-sees to bite along that first shore line.

I learned a lot as usual; however, with the scarcity of anglers on the water today, I felt that we were either hardcore anglers or intellectually challenged humans or perhaps a little of both . . . .
